PIMENTEL’S MASTERFUL START EARNS HIM PITCHER OF THE WEEK

DURHAM, NC- The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has announced that Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks LHP Cesilio Pimentel (pictured) has been named this week’s Pointstreak Pitcher of the Week for the week ending May 21. Pimentel was masterful in his first start of the season for Fargo-Moorhead, a Saturday night outing in Grand Prairie, Tex. against the Texas AirHogs. Over the course of eight innings, Pimentel did not allow a run while surrendering just three hits. The San Cristobal, Dominican Republic native struck out eight and did not walk a batter, helping his RedHawks to a 5-0 win. 2017 is Pimentel’s first campaign in Independent Baseball and the American Association. Previously, he spent six seasons in the Pittsburgh Pirates system from 2011-2016. After two seasons (2011 and 2012) in the Dominican Summer League, Pimentel came stateside for the first time in 2013 to pitch in the Gulf Coast League. He enjoyed a banner season in 2014 with the Bristol (Va.) Pirates of the Appalachian League, notching a record of 4-2 with a 1.93 ERA in 14 relief appearances.
