Peterson Homers Again, But Cleburne Falls in Game Two

CLEBURNE, Texas (Sep. 4, 2021) – D.J. Peterson homered for the 11th time in his last 40 at-bats, but the Cleburne Railroaders failed to generate much else as the Kansas City Monarchs claimed a 6-3 win on Saturday night at The Depot at Cleburne Station. Peterson’s two-run blast in the bottom of the sixth pulled Cleburne (54-44) within 4-3, his 14th home run since joining the Railroaders on August 3. Kansas City (67-31) had a quick answer in the top of the seventh, however, getting a two-out, two-run single from Gabby Guerrero to restore the three-run cushion at 6-3.The Monarchs bullpen took it the rest of the way, as Carlos Diaz, Jeremy Rhoades and Jameson McGrane each tossed a scoreless inning in relief to nail down the win. McGrane recorded his seventh save of the season, striking out Colton Pogue with runners at the corners to end it.Garrett Alexander (8-7)…
