OPENING DAY TOMORROW, LEMURS BEGIN TITLE DEFENSE

The Laredo Lemurs will begin their American Association title defense tomorrow as a part of a six game opening day slate. While 2015 marked the first championship in team history, the Lemurs look to build off last season’s momentum as they host the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks at 7:05 PM at Uni-Trade Stadium. The Lemurs will give the game one ball to RHP Ryan Beckman to battle the RedHawks. En route to their title, the Lemurs defeated the top seeded Sioux City Explorers who set a regular season wins record finishing 75-25. The Explorers will open up their season against the Sioux Falls Canaries as they send RHP Ryan Zimmerman to the hill against LHP Misael Siverio of Sioux Falls. First pitch is set for 7:00 PM from Lewis and Clark Park. The St. Paul Saints were another team who saw success last year finishing the regular season with a second best 74-26 record. Reigning as the Northern Division champions, St. Paul will host the Gary SouthShore RailCats at 7:05 PM at CHS Field. The starting pitching matchup features the Saints’ RHP Mark Hamburger versus the RailCats’ RHP Charlie Rosario. The rest of the league schedule and probable starters are listed below.…
