O’CONNER TAKES HOME DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

MOORHEAD, MN– The American Association announced Wednesday that St. Paul Saints’ C Justin O’Conner has been named Defensive Player of the Year. O’Conner picked up a league-leading 52 assists while committing just six errors in 79 games. The All-Star backstop also posted respectable numbers at the plate, hitting .250 with 17 home runs and 41 RBIs. O’Conner began his professional career in 2010 after being drafted in the first round of the MLB Draft by the Tampa Bay Rays. The 26-year-old spent eight seasons in the Rays’ organization, reaching triple-A in 2017.
