Kansas City 12, Houston 11 – Box Score With three big blasts, the Kansas City Monarchs (32-18) walked off on the Houston Apollos 12-11. The Monarchs trailed 11-9 with just three outs left. In the bottom of the ninth, RF Jan Hernandez (2-for-4) hit a lead-off home run to pull with in one run. After DH Gabriel Guerrero (2-for-6) bounced out 1B Casey Gillaspie (3-for-5) took the second pitch he saw over the fence to tie the score. Three pitches later LF Colin Willis (2-for-4) did the same with a walk-off solo shot. Hernandez now has 16 dingers on the year, the third most in the Association in 2021. CF Darnell Sweeney also homered in the game for the Monarchs. For the Apollos, C Dom DeRenzo and LF Hudson Bilodeau each had three hits and OF Aaron Takacs homered twice to rack up five RBIs.
