LEMURS SHUTOUT AIRHOGS TO CLOSE GAP IN WILD CARD CHASE

Laredo 1, Texas 0 – Box Laredo starting pitcher Troy Marks and two relievers combined a one-hit shutout as the Lemurs beat the Texas AirHogs, 1-0. Marks went the first six innings giving up only the one hit and two walks while fanning 11 batters. The righty earned his seventh win and is now 7-4 on the season. The relievers, Danny Reynolds and Jeff Inman tossed the final three innings and did not allow a hitter to reach base. The only run of the contest came in the sixth inning as RF Denis Phipps hit a solo home run. Laredo now sits only one game behind Winnipeg in the race for the Wild Card. Lincoln 3, Sioux City 2 – Box Lincoln scored two runs in the sixth inning to overcome a 2-1 deficit and beat Sioux City, 3-2. Saltdogs DH Curt Smith and 2B Cesar Valera each had two hits on the night with Smith scoring a run and Valera driving in one. Lincoln RF Jon Smith also chipped in with a solo home run, his 12th on the year. Saltdogs starting pitcher Matt Larkins notched his seventh victory and improved his mark to 7-7 on the season.
