LEMURS ESCAPE WITH ROAD WIN OVER RIVAL WINGNUTS

MAY 31 RECAPS Laredo 4, Wichita 3 (12 innings)- Box The Lemurs plated the go-ahead run in the top of the 12th and held the Wingnuts off the board in the bottom of the frame to earn a 4-3 win. RF Denis Phipps led off the 12th with a single for Laredo, and scored on an RBI groundout by C Matt Koch. Wichita loaded the bases with one out in the home half of the 12th, but Laredo turned a game-ending double play. LF Ty Morrison and 2B Alvaro Rondon had two hits apiece for the Lemurs, and 3B Travis Denker hit his fourth homer of the season in the win. RHP Kyle Winkler worked a scoreless 11th for the win, and RHP Scott Garner shut the door to pick up the save. For Wichita, DH TJ Mittelstaedt was 2-for-5 with a pair of doubles. Gary SouthShore 3, Kansas City 2- Box An eighth inning run snapped a 2-2 tie and led the RailCats to a 3-2 win at home over the T-Bones.
