Laredo 5, Fargo-Moorhead 4 (14 Innings) – Box Laredo C Matt Koch gets hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 14th inning as the defending champion Lemurs open up the 2016 season with a 5-4 walk-off win over the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks. Fargo-Moorhead had a 3-0 in the top of the fifth inning only to see Laredo score three in the bottom of the frame to tie it at 3-3. The contest would stay that way until the 10th as the RedHawks scored a run in the top of the 10th to go ahead 4-3. The Lemurs tied it up again in the bottom of the 10th at 4-4 before winning it in the 14th. Koch, LF Ty Morrison and CF Drew Martinez each had two hits on the night for Laredo. Lemurs reliever Jimmer Kennedy picked up the win as he went an inning and struck out two hitters. Winnipeg 8, Joplin 1 (6 Innings) – Box The Winnipeg Goldeyes started out the 2016 season with a bang as they rolled past the Joplin Blasters, 8-1 in a game shorten due to rain.
