Late Lead Slips Away from ‘Roaders

FARGO, N.D. (Aug. 31, 2019) – For the third time in four nights, the Cleburne Railroaders could not hold an eighth inning lead as the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks rallied for a 4-3 win on Saturday night at Newman Outdoor Field. With Cleburne leading 3-1 In the bottom of the eighth, Nefi Ogando (4-5) loaded the bases on two walks and an infield single. He struck out Chris Jacobs for the second out of the inning, but on a 1-2 pitch Correlle Prime dumped a two-run single into left to tie the game 3-3. Ogando then uncorked a wild pitch and a passed ball to score the go-ahead run. The Railroaders threatened in the top of the ninth on a pair of hit by pitches, but a strikeout and a groundout ended the game as Geoff Broussard secured his 27th save.
