KARCH’S BIG SEASON IN SIOUX CITY LEADS TO OPPORTUNITY WITH TWINS

MOORHEAD, MINN. – The Sioux City Explorers have sold the contract of RHP Eric Karch to the Minnesota Twins organization, the American Association announced. Karch is the second player to have his contract sold to a Major League organization in 2019, and the 19th player since the start of the 2018 season. Photo Credit: Sioux City Explorers Karch signed with the Explorers after spending four seasons in the Pittsburgh Pirates and Los Angeles Angels organizations. In 2018, he was 2-3 with a 2.27 ERA and 21 saves in 41 relief appearances. In 43.2 innings pitched, Karch allowed 18 runs (11 earned) on 42 hits. He struck out 61 batter and walked just 16. His 21 saves were good for third-best in the American Association. Karch began his professional career in 2014 after being drafted by the Pirates in the 22nd round out of Pepperdine University in California. He advanced to Mobile of the Southern League (Double-A) with the Angels in 2017 and is 10-16 with a 3.44 ERA in 120 games in his career.
