KANSAS CITY, Kan. (Aug. 7, 2021) – Seven different Kansas City hitters homered as the Monarchs matched an American Association record for single-game homers in a 16-8 win over the Cleburne Railroaders on Saturday night at Legends Field. The seven home runs matched the record set by Sioux Falls on July 3, 2010 and St. Paul on August 29, 2019.The Monarchs (49-24) scored seven runs in the bottom of the second to open the scoring. Gabriel Guerrero, Morgan McCullough and Ryan Grotjohn each homered in the inning, giving Kansas City a 7-0 lead.Charcer Burks singled home another run for Kansas City in the bottom of the third to make it 8-0.John Nester’s infield single in the top of the fourth pulled the Railroaders within 8-1, but Darnell Sweeney answered with a three-run homer in the bottom of the inning for an 11-1 lead.Burks skied a solo home run in the…
