St. Paul 8, Sioux Falls 3 — Box Score The St. Paul Saints scored three runs in the first half inning and never trailed from there on the way to an 8-3 win against the Sioux Falls Canaries. 1B Brady Shoemaker set the tone with a three-run home run, his second of the year, in the first inning and Starter Mark Hamburger took care of business from there. Hamburger tossed a complete game and gave up three runs (all earned) on nine hits while striking out four and giving up just two free passes. The Saints’ offense continued to back him up and 2B Tony Thomas added his third round tripper of the season in the ninth to give the Saints an 8-1 lead. The Canaries rallied for two runs in the bottom of the ninth thanks to a two-RBI single from CF Dan Motl but Hamburger struck out RF Jake Taylor in the next at-bat to end the game. Both teams had three players record a pair of hits in the game including Thomas and Sioux Falls 2B/RF Patrick Fiala, who went 2-for-3 with a run scored.
