Winnipeg 7, St. Paul 2 (Game 1/7 Innings) – Box Score The Winnipeg Goldeyes took the first game of their doubleheader with the St. Paul Saints 7-2 thanks to a five-run fifth. The Goldeyes struck first as SS Wes Darville tripled to score DH Roy Morales and then he scored when 2B Kevin Lachance singled in the next at-bat. The Saints scored in the third as DH Justin Byrd doubled but Winnipeg put the game out of reach in the fifth. There, 1B Kyle Martin doubled home Lachance and C John Nester hit a sac fly to score CF Darnell Sweeney (2-for-4); LF Jordan George capped the rally with a three-run home run. Starting Kevin McGovern went the full seven innings and allowed two runs on four hits while recording five strikeouts.
