By this time next week major league spring training camps will be open, and the presence of the American Association once again will be felt.  The most visible part is the players, of course, and no less than 15 of those who have thrilled fans in the first 13 seasons since the re-birth of the league have official invitations from one of the 30 teams training in Arizona and Florida. The number with ties to the American Association will get much larger when every team has filled out its contingent of non-roster players and still others are invited from minor league camps to suit up for one or more exhibition games.  This does not even account for the coaches, instructors, broadcasters and an assortment of other front office positions in the camps. Arizona outfielder David Peralta and non-roster Chicago Cubs infielder Ryan Court stand out as the only position players among the fortunate 15 while four of the pitchers, including Washington’s exceptional Max Scherzer, threw their very first professional pitch in the league. Peralta’s position with the Diamondbacks is well cemented especially after career highs of 30 home runs and 87 runs batted…
