Sioux City 6, Wichita 5 – Game 1 (10 Innings) (Sioux City leads series, 1-0) – Box Sioux City 1B Ino Patron singled home 3B Tommy Mendonca with the game winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning as the Explorers collected a 6-5 walk-off victory over Wichita in game one of the first round playoff series. The Wingnuts tallied five runs in the top of the fifth to take a 5-3 lead but would not be able to hold it as Sioux City plated a run in the bottom of the frame and another one in the sixth to tie the contest at 5-5 and eventually force extra innings. Patron went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and two RBI while Mendonca added a pair of hits and two runs. Explorers pitcher Rob Wort tossed three scoreless innings of relief and earned the victory. Wort gave up a walk and three hits while striking out four batters. Game two of the series is scheduled for Thursday night in Sioux City beginning at 7:05 PM.
