LINCOLN, Nebraska – Ben Wereski allowed two runs over six innings, but the ‘Dogs had just six hits in a 3-2 loss to the Gary SouthShore RailCats at Haymarket Park on Friday night. BOX SCORE Wereski took his first loss as a professional, but now has a 2.74 ERA through his first five starts out of Rutgers. Lincoln (42-36) fell behind when Tom Walraven opened the scoring on a leadoff homer in the 2nd inning. Gary SouthShore (32-47) added to the lead with Jose Mercado’s RBI double in the 5th. The ‘Dogs loaded the bases with nobody out in the 5th, but only scored on Justin Byrd’s one-out sacrifice fly. The RailCats made it 3-1 with Daniel Lengua’s sacrifice fly in the 8th, while the ‘Dogs answered on Yanio Perez’s two-out RBI single in the bottom-half.
