D’BACKS PURCHASE CONTRACT OF AIRHOGS’ BETTS

Durham, N.C. — The contract of Texas AirHogs RHP Palmer Betts has been purchased by the Arizona Diamondbacks organization, the American Association announced on Sunday. In his first season with Texas, Betts currently leads the AirHogs with three victories, to go along with 28 strikeouts in 35.0 innings of work and a 5.66 ERA. Previously, the native of Valdosta, Ga., spent two seasons in the Pittsburgh organization after being drafted by the Pirates in the 36th round of the 2014 draft. Betts pitched collegiately at the University of Georgia.
