DURHAM, NC- The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has announced that Winnipeg Goldeyes INF Wes Darvill (pictured) has been named this week’s Pointstreak Player of the Week for the week ending May 28. Darvill hit .480 (12-for-25) this week, collecting four doubles, a triple, and a home run. He drove in nine runs in helping the Goldeyes to a 5-1 week. The Langley, BC, Canada native began his week on Monday in the opener of a neutral-site series with the Salina Stockade in Wichita, Kan, Darvill fell a home run shy of the cycle, as he was 3-for-5 with a double, a triple, and four RBI in a 12-10 Winnipeg victory. After the Goldeyes won the series with a 7-3 win Tuesday, Darvill recorded his second three-hit game of the week in a 16-0 Wednesday victory. He hit a pair of doubles and drove in a run in the sweep-completing win. Darvill and the Goldeyes remained in Wichita to face the Wichita Wingnuts in a three-game set from Thursday through Saturday.
