CLEBURNE, Tex. (May 10, 2021) – The Cleburne Railroaders announced Monday the signing of right-handed pitcher Kyle Chavez. Chavez brings four seasons of independent experience to Cleburne, having pitched in the American Association, Can-Am League, Pacific Association, Pecos League, and Empire League. Along the way, the 29-year-old has posted strong overall marks including a 3.54 career ERA in 114.1 innings, racking up 108 strikeouts to only 44 walks.The low-slot righty was an NAIA All-American at Talladega College as a senior in 2017, going 13-5 with a 2.58 ERA over 21 appearances and 17 starts for the Tornadoes. He struck out 113 while walking only 15 hitters in 118.2 innings, surrendering just 99 hits. Prior to his time at Talladega, Chavez began his collegiate career with Broward College.Chavez began his professional career with the High Desert Yardbirds of the Pecos League in 2017, pitching in one game before joining the Empire…
