Photo Credit: Winnipeg Goldeyes DURHAM, NC- The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has announced that Winnipeg Goldeyes RHP Edwin Carl (pictured) has been named this week’s Pointstreak Pitcher of the Week for the week ending September 4. Carl was masterful in his final start of the regular season. Thursday night at the St. Paul Saints, he threw seven shutout innings, scattering four hits and a walk. He struck out eight in helping lead Winnipeg to a 5-0 win. Carl has played a key role in helping the Goldeyes to the American Association North Division championship. He finishes 2017 at 9-4 with a 4.60 ERA, striking out 103 opposing hitters and walking only 46 over 117.1 innings. The Farmington, N.M. resident is in his third season with Winnipeg, having posted a 6-1 record and 2.10 ERA in 2015, striking out 62 and walking only 14 in 55.2 innings. He followed up that effort in 2016 with a 10-6 mark and 4.69 ERA in 20 starts. Carl was named the Pointstreak Pitcher of the Week for the week ending June 12, 2016 and September 7, 2015.
