August 18 Evening Recap Joplin 4, Lincoln 3 – Box Joplin C Ermindo Escobar singled home 3B Brandon Tierney with the go-ahead run in the bottom of the eighth inning as the Blasters rallied past the Lincoln Saltdogs, 4-3. Lincoln had a 3-0 lead after five innings only to see Joplin score two runs in the sixth, one in the seventh and the winning run in the eighth to pull off the victory. Joplin leadoff hitter Mitch Glasser and DH Edwin Gomez each went 2-for-4 with a run scored and a RBI while PH/RF Mark Krueger drove in a run and collected a pair of hits. Blasters reliever Roby Romero tossed 1 1/3 scoreless innings to notch his first victory. For Lincoln in the losing effort, SS Cesar Valera went 3-for-5 and scored a run. Wichita 5, Kansas City 4 – Box Catcher Martin Medina’s sacrifice fly in the eighth inning broke a 4-4 tie and lifted the Wichita Wingnuts to a 5-4 win over the Kansas City T-Bones.
