Sioux City 8, Gary SouthShore 1- Box Score The Sioux City Explorers offense exploded on Sunday in a 8-1 win over the Gary SouthShore Railcats. The Explorers collected 16 total hits and every member of the lineup had at least one. In the game’s opening frame, Sioux City scored four runs on RBI doubles by Nate Samson, Jay Baum, and a two-run double by Dexture McCall. Gary SouthShore followed by scoring their only run of the game on a groundout by Mitch Glasser in the bottom of the inning. The offensive performance was buoyed by a one-run complete game performance by Luis Mateo (4-2). Mateo allowed just seven hits while striking out five. Jordan Edgerton homered and Baum hit a sacrifice fly in a two run top of the second to make it a 6-1 game. The Explorers would go on to score two more, with one coming on a solo home run by David Kerian. With the win, Sioux City improved to 23-7 overall, while the Railcats fell to 15-13.
