GENEVA, ILL. — Josh Altmann continued his season-opening scorching streak with a 10th inning game-winning home run to lift the Chicago Dogs over the Kane County Cougars in extras, 6-4, on Wednesday.
Three Key Plays:
With the scored tied at four, Altmann drove a line-drive home run to left with General McArthur IV on second base to lift the Dogs ahead, 6-4.
Kane County first baseman T.J. Bennett tied the game in the seventh inning by driving in two runs on a double.
Joe Cavallaro, Brian Schlitter and Johnathan Cheshire marvelously held Kane County scoreless in the final three frames to secure the 6-4 win.
The Arms: In his first start as a Dog, Ryan O’Reilly allowed no runs in four innings of work, allowing just one hit. Aiden McIntyre, Joe Cavallaro, Brian Schlitter and Johnathan Cheshire all logged scoreless appearances out of the bullpen. Kane County’s C.J. Eldred allowed three runs in a five-inning start.
The Bats: Altmann finished 3-for-5 with a home run, while Nick Heath and Matt Bottcher also posted multi-hit performances. Both Dogs also stole two bases.
