The Fort Worth Cats yesterday announced the release of the schedule for its home games for the United League Baseball 2014 season. The 4 teams in the circuit were announced as:
- Fort Worth Cats
- Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings (Harlingen)
- San Angelo Colts
- Mexico Paisanos (to be based in Harlingen)
Whether the Paisanos will be a pure travel team or have “home” games is still TBA. The Paisanos will replace the Edinburg Roadrunners this season. Other cities were mentioned on other forums and websites as possible candidates for the ULB’s 4th (and possibly 5th and 6th teams). Should those be confirmed for 2015 then those will be posted on this site.
The official ULB schedule is not yet updated here.

So much for success in that league. The Roadrunners were last year’s champion, were they not? hard to remember now. These league leaders just don’t get the hint. They should have joined up with another league again, and not that debacle they tried with the North American, I think.
I thought the Pecos was looking to expand their Texas outlook more, and two or three of the United group would have made a lot of sense, putting that league into a more sensibly scheduled 12 teamer. But then that commish…
nuff said there. I doubt the “United” will stay that way for long in ’14.
This should also guarantee a championship for the Cats. How thoughtful.
I really think the nickname is derogatory, if not downright inflammatory, unless all the players on that team ARE from Mexico. There’s an idea. But a lot of visa issues to deal with there, isn’t there. Can’t see many non Mexicans wanting to put on that uni…even if hard up for a chance to play.
