Former NBA player Tracy McGrady has been given the invitation to be on the spring training roster for the Sugar Land Skeeters in the Atlantic League. Here are the two ESPN features on him:

- ESPN video on Facebook
Of interest in the first video, around the 2:20 mark he mentions that he worked with longtime pitching instructor, Tom House. Having personally worked with Tom House in 1993, I know how quickly he can improve someone’s velocity if they are willing to listen. While House tends to speak in terms of physics and bio-mechanics, if a pitcher can upgrade his ability to think there is much to be learned by Tom’s mechanics. Some of those topics are in his older books found here:
Congratulations to McGrady and the Skeeters. They are doing their part on getting national attention to the independent leagues and the Atlantic League in particular. There is much more work for the leagues to do in order to gain national popularity; but this at least gives the 2014 independent baseball spring training season some national attention before the first pitch.
