Earlier this week, Jose Canseco filed suit against the ownership of the Worcester Tornadoes, citing bad checks written by the team:
While the damage amount named is significant, a more recent suit by the local hotel for unpaid rooms & services has had more impact on the team. The team had to wear the Can-Am League “Greys” uniforms, last used in 2007 by the league’s travel team. This is because a court order was issued and permitted giving the hotel’s lawyer to seize the Tornadoes’ uniforms and other team equipment.
The team played its game in its stadium (Hanover Park) and were announced as the Tornadoes, so the team is not called the Greys. Again, the team simply played in the league-issued jerseys until the return of their uniforms can be secured.
The article cites several other unpaid creditors. As this situation continues with articles and any official statements by the team or league then the information will be posted here.
