Last night the Sugar Land Skeeters won the 2016 Atlantic League championship series over the Long Island Ducks. This is the first championship in team history. The team’s victory is the last of the 2016 summertime professional independent league championships, with the Desert League’s schedule having games playing this fall.
The Skeeters victory has been added to the list of historical pro independent baseball league championships since the 1993 inception of the current independent league structure. You may see that list here:
