The St. Paul Saints are the most recognized team in professional independent baseball as the team is one of 3 of the last original teams from the 1993 inception of today’s independent baseball. The team also has received the most amount of national attention over the past two decades for its off-the-wall promotions, having actor Bill Murray as a part-owner along with his appearances, Murray’s wearing a Saints cap in the Space Jam movie, bobblehead dolls spoofing politicians, the pig which delivers balls to the umpire and more.
This week, the team received the news that the state of Minnesota has granted them upward of $25 million to construct a new stadium in the Lowertown (downtown) area of St. Paul.
