The Sioux City Explorers launched a new logo to commemorate its 20th anniversary as an independent baseball team:
The Explorers are one of 3 markets still in existence since the independent baseball leagues, as we know them today, started in 1993. The other two are the St. Paul Saints and the Sioux Falls Pheasants (formerly the Canaries). No teams from the Frontier League, which originally started in 1993 as well, remain in existence. The last team to cease operations as an independent team was the Chillicothe Paints.
