Brian Clark, the majority owner of the entity which owned the San Rafael Pacifics and the Sonoma County Grapes, sold his stake to the minority investors including Mike Shapiro, Pacifics team president and the face of the organization especially during the period with opposition to the stadium lease.
With the push to have teams in Hawaii and Japan, as well as quoted speculation about the future of the Sonoma County Grapes (North American League’s Northern Division travel team in 2012), some are speculating about the future of the Pacifics without viable other teams in the region.
Industry veterans are having private discussions about the West Coast markets which can be created in time to salvage the structure as the costs of operating teams traveling to & from Hawaii, and possibly Japan and other Pacific Rim locations, likely will be cost-prohibitive without major sponsorship. Once confirmed news comes out about this, and the future of the North American League, then it will be reported on this site.
