Pensacola Pelicans No Longer An Independent Minor League Baseball Team

Yesterday, it was announced that the Pensacola Pelicans will no longer be an independent minor league baseball team in 2011.  The city of Pensacola is preparing for the 2012 season, and the Carolina Mudcats will move to Pensacola then.

The Pelicans will be sold to the Southern Independent Baseball Group and become the proposed Amarillo team in the American Association next year:

This event finalizes months of speculation regarding Pensacola’s status.  How it will affect the American Association’s schedule and travel arrangements will be detailed once confirmed.
