The Pecos League came out with two pieces of interesting news in the past few days:
- The announcement that the league, likely, will go to 8 teams for 2013. The league would be split into a Northern Division and a Southern Division in order to reduce travel expenses. http://www.pecosleague.com/pecosleague.asp?page=28&article_id=316
- The other is a rather honest review of the league’s own 6 teams from the 2012 season. This includes a not-so-favorable review of the situation with the Roswell Invaders plus mentions of league/team personnel which were let go during the season: http://www.pecosleague.com/pecosleague.asp?page=28&article_id=308
Andrew Dunn’s approach is rather unique in minor league sports as most league executives and personnel do not post the “ugly” sides of their own leagues, or they just barely discuss them publicly. Hopefully this honesty translates to business success for the Pecos League and, in turn, sets the tone for future seasons across the industry.
