The North County area of San Diego may have independent professional baseball this upcoming season. Retired Marine Jim Hoynes announced that he paid the AWBL the fee to the rights to play at Cal State San Marcos. Likely the team will be named the North County Cannons, although that is subject to change.
The AWBL is owned by Embark Holdings, formerly Godfather Media, which is a publicly-traded entity (OTC: GFMD). Neither the AWBL nor Embark has posted the official notice of this yet, to stay compliant with stock market disclosure rules, so this link (at the time of the posting) is the only one with details about the announcement:
