The Long Island Ducks won the 2013 Atlantic League championship series last night, defeating the Somerset Patriots 6-4. It was the fifth and deciding game of the best-of-5 series. The Ducks are now back-to-back Atlantic League champions for the first time in their team’s history, having won last year’s title as well.
Yesterday’s game concluded a wild series but broke pattern as it was the only game in the series which:
- didn’t end with a one-run difference
- had the visiting team win the game
- the only game played in Somerset which didn’t require extra innings
Ducks pitcher John Brownell earned the championship series MVP.
