The American West Baseball League (proposed new independent league for 2013) announced this week that it will have a fifth team in its league, the Long Beach Splash. A logo was made public, and you can read several articles related to this here:

The 5 currently-announced cities include: Fullerton (Orange County, California), San Diego, Mesa (Arizona), Yuma (Arizona) and Long Beach. All five cities had teams in the Golden Baseball League during its 2005-2010 existence.
Of interest, once the Long Beach Splash play at least one inning it will mark the fifth independent professional baseball team to have played a game in Long Beach California. Here are the other four:

- Long Beach Breakers
- Long Beach Riptide
- Long Beach Armada
