The Frontier League’s new team for 2012 is the London Rippers, and they will be based in London, Ontario (Canada). The logo is similar to “Jack The Ripper”, but an alternative explanation is included:

While this is a new team, it has remote ties with the Frontier League going back to 2007. In 2007 the Frontier League had a team named the Slippery Rock Sliders. In 2008 the team became a travel team known as the Midwest Sliders. For 2009, the team officially was the Midwest Sliders of Ypsilanti (Michigan). Ownership then changed to name the 2010 team the Oakland County Cruisers, which played most of the year on the road.
In 2011 the team “went dark” due to stadium construction complications. The ownership rights were sold this year and attempted to put a team in Clawson, Michigan. Those efforts stalled and the team was able to secure London, Ontario as the new home. London had been a location for a previous Frontier League team, the London Werewolves, who played in the same stadium from 1999 through 2001.
