Tonight the Kansas City Monarchs defeated the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks 8-1, sweeping the RedHawks in the best-of-5 2021 American Association championship. This is the first year that the team played as the “Monarchs”, and the third independent professional baseball championship in the team’s history when the team was named the T-Bones (2008 Northern League and 2018 American Association championships).
The Monarchs have been added to the list of historical independent professional baseball league champions going back to 1993:
