The Kalamazoo Kings team, which played for several years in the Frontier League, went “dark” in 2011 citing low attendance figures. Their decision to go dark early in 2011 opened the possibility for the Rockford Riverhawks to jump from the fledgling North American League back to the Frontier League where it had played in previous years.
The Kings’ status is still uncertain, and they are not on the Frontier League’s 2012 schedule. A decision was supposed to be announced during the fall, but the team’s official status with the league is still pending.
