Today, June 24, 2020 the Frontier League announced that it will not operate as the intended 14-team league for the 2020 season. This follows the Atlantic League’s decision to do the same a few days ago.
However, many of the teams in each of those two leagues plan to play some sort of professional baseball during this summer; but many teams announced that they will not play until 2021.
The Sugar Land Skeeters announced the name of their 4-team league: the Constellation Energy League. This is named after their home stadium’s naming sponsor in Sugar Land, Texas.
The Chicago Dogs of the American Association received permission to play their home games (for the abbreviated AA 2020 schedule) back in their actual stadium. The team was supposed to play its “home” games at the hub stadium of the Milwaukee Milkmen.
The Pecos League is playing spring training games in the league’s training facility in South Houston Texas. It still is on track to be the first professional baseball league to operate an announced regular season schedule for 2020. The league intends to have its first regular season game next week on July 1.
