We are still in the process of re-tooling this site to help give you more value and exposure into the happenings of independent professional baseball. There is a lot happening behind the scenes for the website, but it has not translated into what we wanted so that is why there has been delay for some time.
Nonetheless, you need to get quality information about the business side of independent baseball – especially when it may affect your experience at a stadium or the product on the field, interesting player stories, unique promotions or strategies which are coming out of the independent leagues which can alter the way pro sports teams operate, etc. Those are forthcoming, so in the meantime here are some items of interest (in no particular order) in recent days:
- A joint effort website between the Can-Am League, American Association and Frontier League to showcase their respective news and games gained momentum this week.
- The Atlantic League welcomed its 30 millionth fan in league history (here)
- The Long Island Ducks had their six millionth fan in team history come through the stands
- The San Rafael Pacifics played an exhibition game at San Quentin prison, and Bill “Spaceman” Lee pitched in the game. Here are the photos from the Pacifics Facebook page
- The Pecos League had its third episode on Fox Sports 1
- United League Baseball now has a Facebook and Twitter account (links on the website)
- The Schaumburg Boomers had its “21 and Over Night”. Read the recap here
- Sonoma Stompers had their first exhibition games in team history this week
- The Joliet Slammers will have an exhibition game against the Dutch National women’s softball team on July 14

Presumptuous nickname for the Ottawa franchise…”Champions”? What do you call them when they lose to the real champions of the league? Absurd! I guess we’re stuck with more uni colors in red and black. Come on, CanAm. And let’s hope they bring back Newark, but not in black and grey, signs of their continued death there. How about some green and gold, signs of growth!
