If you like using RSS (or XML/Atom) feeds to customize the type of news you receive then you should know that many independent baseball teams have RSS feeds for you to use. Most of the RSS feeds are from the team websites, but a few come from team-related blogs such as a General Manager blog.
Note that while the majority of the RSS feeds are from the team’s “Game Recaps” or “Newsroom” pages, you should still check the News page tab on this site to be kept up to date with all team-related happenings. Occasionally a team may place a relevant piece of news on the site in a manner that does not get added to the RSS feed.
BEFORE STARTING:
1) If you have no clue why you, as a fan, would even need to know about RSS feeds – or if you are a team executive and don’t know why your fans and website visitors should care about RSS feeds – then watch a 3-minute video which explains everything in simple English: http://www.commoncraft.com/rss_plain_english
2) There is another benefit to teams for learning about their RSS feeds. While RSS makes it easy for your fans/visitors to keep up to date with your news, the SECOND benefit to an independent baseball team is that you can “syndicate” your content for free to websites looking for baseball-related news. This will lead to FREE publicity and FREE website traffic (keeping your website sponsors happy!)
Contact me to find out how you can do this for low-to-no cost; and contact me if you do not yet have a RSS feed on how to get one.
