The city of El Paso moved forward with a proposal to fund a downtown new stadium for a Triple-A affiliated team, one which could play as early as the 2014 season. Here are the articles out of the El Paso area, including a TV news clip:

Obviously this puts the future of the El Paso Diablos (American Association) in jeopardy because of the difficulty most independent baseball teams face when in the same market as affiliated baseball.
