The Edinburg Roadrunners have won their second consecutive championship. They defeated the Fort Worth Cats last night in extra innings 10-6. It was the fifth and deciding game of the best-of-5 series.
The Roadrunners won last year’s North American League (United Division) championship which was, in essence, the United League due to the NAL having a dual champions.
Edinburg’s previous independent baseball league championships include:
- 2004 – Central League
- 2001 – Texas-Louisiana League
The Roadrunners championship has been added to the list of all-time professional independent baseball league champions since 1993.
