It appears that the Chico Outlaws (North American League) were able to extend their lease agreement with Chico State University in order to resume operations for the 2012 season:
General manager and field manager, Mike Marshall, was quoted in the article. Assuming that this means Chico is in the NAL for 2012 then there is a regional rival against the new San Rafael-based NAL team. If speculation is true about Calgary folding then the NAL would have these teams:
- Chico Outlaws
- Edinburg Roadrunners
- Edmonton Capitals
- Fort McMurray (Alberta, Canada) team (TBA – possible travel team)
- Lake County Fielders (TBA)
- McAllen Thunder, which was a neutral site/travel team (TBA)
- Na Koa Ikaika Maui
- Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings
- San Angelo Colts
- San Rafael team (team nickname TBA)
- Yuma Scorpions
