Earlier this week I spoke with Joe Klein of the Atlantic League about the 8th team for the 2011 Atlantic League season. He confirmed that the Road Warriors travel team of previous years will be coming back to balance out the schedule with the 7 current teams.
He mentioned that this is the sixth time that the Road Warriors will play in the history of the Atlantic League. They will replace the Newark Bears which left to play in the Can-Am League.
The Road Warriors players will be made up of players signed by the league + a collection of up to 2 players assigned by other 7 teams (subject to recall). This will be done to make the Road Warriors competitive and ensure Atlantic League fans that they will be watching quality baseball games when the Road Warriors come to town.
There was no mention yet of any managers, coaches, or who will be the temporary General Manager for the team. When that news is confirmed then it will be posted on this site.
