Ottawa last hosted an independent baseball team in 2008 (Can-Am League). It was a former Triple-A team (the Lynx), and news is coming out of Ottawa about the stadium’s future. Evidently two leagues have expressed interest in playing in Ottawa, but the city has the stadium’s future in doubt.

The city must make it feasible as soon as possible for either independent professional baseball league to place a club in Ottawa. The ballpark is of high calibre and is paid for. Let’s use it in 2010 so that residents and visitors can enjoy quality baseball on a hot summer’s night.I enjoyed the Canam League in 2008.The attendance in Ottawa in 2008 was considered good and the club had a losing record. Ottawa must have more confidence in itself .I am very proud of the wonderful support in 2008 shown for the ballclub by the citizens of Hull and Gatineau. The broadcasts in the French language were very much appreciated . Baseball is a great game which symbolizes fair play and sportsmanship Canada can now be proud of having 15 great players in the major leagues.I hope that the City of Ottawa will accommodate a professional baseball team at beautiful Ottawa Baseball Stadium before February of 2010 as the team must be promoted properly in the schools, in the market area and in the media. A lot of work lies ahead but our goal is quite realistically achievable.
