Here is an interesting story about professional baseball overseas, specifically in Israel. In 2007, there was an professional league called the Israel Baseball League. Recently, a news article came out that a documentary has been made chronicling the IBL:
The IBL featured some players who played in independent baseball either prior to or after the IBL’s lone 2007 season. The league also had Dan Duquette, recently of the American Defenders of New Hampshire (Can-Am League 2009 season), as the director of operations.
