AVON, Ohio — The Lake Erie Crushers, presented by Mercy, scored 10 times on 18 hits on Tuesday evening at Sprenger Health Care Stadium, using a six-run sixth inning to defeat the Traverse City Beach Bums, 10-4. The win for the Crushers (40-44) was their second straight following a three-game losing streak, while the loss for the Beach Bums (32-50) was their third in their last four games. Traverse City fired the first shot, taking a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning after Luke Lowery belted a solo homer to center, his second of the season. Lake Erie could not take advantage of doubles in the first two innings of the contest, but then cashed in with four consecutive two-out hits in the bottom of the third. LJ. Kalawaia started the rally with a double down the line in right, and scored the game tying run moments later on Sean Hurley’s RBI double to left center. Jordan Dean drove the next pitch right back through the middle of the infield for a two-out RBI single to score Hurley, giving the Crushers a 2-1 lead.
