Beach Bums Cling to Victory In Windy City Series Finale

CRESTWOOD, IL – The Traverse City Beach Bums’(28-47) Alexis Rivera drove in two and scored twice, leading to a win over the Windy City Thunderbolts(41-35), by a final score of 3-1. After a scoreless first three innings, Jeff DeBlieux and Orlando Riveraled off the fourth with back-to-back singles to left. Steven Patterson was able to move the runners up 90 feet on a slow groundout to the right side of the infield. Alexis Rivera came to the plate and hit a deep fly ball to center, scoring DeBlieux on the sacrifice, giving the Beach Bums a 1-0 lead. In the seventh, Alexis Rivera doubled the Bums’ advantage with his 10th home run of the season, a solo bomb over the right field wall. Alexis Rivera helped add the Bums’ third run as well when he walked with one out in the ninth. Luke Lowery and Nick Murphy each followed with singles to load the bases then Rivera scored on a passed ball. Larry Balkwill led off the bottom of the inning with a solo homer but Windy City could come no closer. Brian Bayliss picked up the win in the second straight quality start, improving to 2-4.
