Boomers Sweep Washington for Seventh Straight Victory

WASHINGTON, PA —The Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, matched the longest win streak of a record setting season by capturing a seventh in a row to sweep the Washington Wild Things with a 10-4 decision on Thursday night. Three second inning runs allowed the Boomers to jump ahead. The team would not trail in tallying the 10th sweep of the year. Schaumburg scored in five different frames and put the game out of reach with three runs in the eighth and one in the ninth. Every member of the lineup tallied a hit. Kyle Ruchim scored three times. Zack Weigel, David Harris and James Keller all drove home two. The pitching staff finished the game with 14 strikeouts. Brandon Quintero struck out six in four innings but did not factor in the decision.Michael Wood won his second straight in relief, working two frames. The bullpen combined to retire the final 11 batters with Garrett Kellylogging two perfect frames, striking out four. Rob McDonnell closed out the win with a perfect ninth, striking out two. The Boomers (53-22) own the best record in the league and hold a commanding lead in the East Division while closing in on a playoff berth. The roadtrip continues on Friday night at 6:05 p.m. in Ohio…
